We aim to publish content that is useful, community-focused and relevant to people living in or connected with the Clarence Valley.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made by Clarence Valley Community Information.

Submission of an article, event, media release, notice, photograph or other material does not guarantee publication.

We may decide not to publish content or may edit, shorten, postpone or remove content where appropriate.

Decisions may take into account:

  • local relevance;
  • community interest;
  • accuracy and available evidence;
  • timeliness;
  • available website space;
  • duplication;
  • legal or safety concerns;
  • privacy;
  • tone and suitability; and
  • consistency with the purpose of the website.

Accuracy and Verification

We make reasonable efforts to confirm important information before publication.

Contributors and organisations submitting material are responsible for ensuring that:

  • information is accurate and current;
  • names, dates, locations and contact details are correct;
  • claims can be supported;
  • required permissions have been obtained;
  • submitted photographs and material may legally be published; and
  • the content does not infringe another person’s rights.

We may contact contributors to verify information or request supporting details.

Community Submissions

We welcome submissions about local news, events, achievements, organisations and initiatives.

Submissions should include:

  • a clear description of the story, event or announcement;
  • relevant dates, times and locations;
  • the name and contact details of the person submitting it;
  • suitable photographs where available;
  • relevant booking or website links; and
  • confirmation that permission has been obtained to publish supplied material.

Submitting content gives Clarence Valley Community Information permission to review, edit and publish the material on the website and associated social media or email channels, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Copyright remains with the original owner unless ownership is expressly transferred.

Photographs and Consent

Anyone submitting a photograph must have the right to provide it for publication.

Where people are clearly identifiable, the contributor should obtain appropriate consent before submitting the image.

Additional care must be taken with photographs of children. The contributor must have permission from a parent, guardian, school, organisation or other authorised person before submitting identifiable images of children.

We may decline or remove images where consent, ownership, privacy or safety is unclear.

Submitted material may be edited for:

  • clarity;
  • grammar and spelling;
  • length;
  • formatting;
  • accessibility;
  • consistency;
  • factual accuracy;
  • website presentation; and
  • alignment with our editorial style.

We will not knowingly alter the intended meaning of a submission without good reason.

We encourage readers and contributors to notify us of possible errors.

Where a material factual error is confirmed, we will take reasonable steps to correct or update the content.

Depending on the circumstances, we may:

  • correct the article or listing;
  • add an update or clarification;
  • correct a name, date, link or location;
